With many in the nonprofit community concerned about how to get through the economic crisis, we want to share our thoughts and plans.
Chambers Family Fund supports regional and national not-for-profit organizations that create systems change and improve the quality and circumstances of life. We make long-term commitments to solve social problems and enhance cultural life in Colorado. We and our grantees take a strategic approach to our work. There is a need for many organizations to focus on the immediate problems resulting from the current economic downturn. We know this work is essential. We also recognize the need to keep sight of long-term goals because the problems we seek to address will remain after this economic crisis has passed.
Like many other foundations, Chambers Family Fund has experienced a decline in its assets. We have looked inward and reduced our operating budget. In our grantmaking, we have consistently exceeded our payout projections in past years and continue to honor grant commitments made in previous years. However, for the foreseeable future, Chambers Family Fund will not make new commitments or fund new initiatives that we otherwise might have considered.
We will work with our grantees to find ways to leverage our creative capital and assist our nonprofit partners withstand these current economic hardships and continue their vital work long into the future.
